Flash Watchlist Privacy Policy

Effective October 13, 2026. Flash Watchlist is made by Pedro Cassian (Cassian.mx). This policy explains what the app does with your information. The short version: there is no account, no advertising and no tracking, and your lists stay on your device and in your own iCloud.

What stays on your device

Your watchlist, reading list and games list, the posts you save, your ratings and notes, and your settings are stored on your device. If you use iCloud, Apple syncs them between your own devices through your private iCloud account. We cannot see or access that data. Any API keys you enter (TMDB, Claude or Gemini) are stored in the device Keychain and are sent only to the service they belong to.

Identifying the posts you share

When you share a post, the app downloads its public caption, images and video directly from the site it is on. To work out which titles the post is about, the caption and images are sent to an AI model. Which one depends on your choice in Settings: • Flash Watchlist (the default): the caption and images are sent to our service, which runs on Google Cloud, and from there to Anthropic's Claude. Our service does not store the content of your posts. It keeps a count of how many posts you have identified this month, so the free and Pro limits can be applied, and basic technical logs such as the time of a request and how many images it contained. • Your own Claude key: the caption and images go directly from your device to Anthropic. • Your own Gemini key: the caption, images and the post's video go directly from your device to Google. Screenshots you share into the app are handled the same way. These companies process the content under their own terms and privacy policies.

Looking up titles

To show posters, descriptions, episodes, prices and where to watch, the app sends the name or ID of a title to public catalogues: TMDB, AniList, Kitsu, Open Library, Wikipedia, Steam and Apple. For availability and prices it also sends your device's country setting. As with any internet request, these services can see your IP address. They are not told who you are.

Identifiers we keep

There is no sign-up and we do not ask for your name or email. To count usage on the default service we store a random ID created by the app on your device, or, if you subscribe to Pro, the subscription's transaction ID from Apple. Requests are also checked with Apple's and Google's app-verification services (App Attest and Firebase App Check) to confirm they come from a genuine copy of the app.

Purchases

Pro subscriptions are sold and billed by Apple. We never receive your payment details. The app sends our service Apple's signed proof of your subscription so that the higher limit can be applied.

Notifications

Episode and release reminders are scheduled on your device. We do not run a notification server and do not collect a notification token.

What we do not do

We do not show ads, sell data, build advertising profiles or use third-party analytics or tracking in the app.

Deleting your data

Deleting the app removes its data from that device. To remove synced data, delete it in iCloud settings under Manage Storage. To have the usage counter linked to your install or subscription deleted, email hello@cassian.mx.

Children

Flash Watchlist is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes and contact
